Elon University’s Visual Culture group, an inter- and multi-disciplinary body of faculty and staff, continues to look at how visuals shape what we and our students do. This semester we'll be focusing on communicating the basics of visual design to educators. We will also explore how Elon might develop and design a space to allow for immersive visualization. I typically show Charles and Ray Eames' "Powers of Ten" video in my Introduction to Astronomy class each semester. The cheesy music is nice, but I find the visuals of this original (done before the age of computer animations) have held up pretty well against the more modern competitors. Until now. The American Museum of Natural History has a new video that is shorter and more accurate.
